The translation of a two-dimensional image or pattern into a three dimensional form is significant in my work. Most of my pieces begin on paper — as drawings, blueprints and/or patterns. These flat plans and diagrams are integral to the creation of the work and form templates for the slabs I use to construct the forms. Once constructed into a skeletal three-dimensional object, the parts outline the structure as a three-dimensional drawing framing the space in between, the space within and the space without.
